Espanola council has come up with a slight increase in the tax levy.
Espanola’s tax levy will be around 1.5 percent, which translates to around $120,000 to be paid by the taxpayers.
At last night’s meeting, council agreed to take funding for a dog park study and pickle ball court contributions out of reserves rather then add the items to the tax rolls.
As a result, taxpayers will see a slight increase in taxation of around $20 per $100,000 of assessment.
Deputy Mayor and finance chair, Bill Foster, says the town also has some major projects to look at in the capital budget, which includes replacement of the recreation centre roof, replacement of the water trunk main, and playground equipment.
The final numbers will be tabulated by staff and council will meet soon to finalize the 2021 budget.
