No more Greyhound bus service

Greyhound Canada is permanently cutting all bus routes across the country after nearly one hundred years of being part of the travelling public’s options.

Greyhound Canada senior vice-president Stuart Kendrick says its remaining routes in Ontario and Quebec ceased permanently yesterday.

He adds its American affiliate will continue to operate cross-border routes to Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver once the border reopens.

This decision comes after one made nearly a year ago to temporarily suspend services due to the pandemic, but the carrier has struggled for several years due to declining ridership and increased competition.

Kendrick adds about 260 employees were laid off when passenger service ceased last year with another additional 45 laid off as of this week.

Ontario Northland currently fills some of the gap in Northern Ontario.
