The Manitoulin OPP is continuing its search for a man considered armed and dangerous.
OPP Sergeant Carlo Berardi says early Saturday morning, an alert was sent out via phone and email about a lockdown in M’Chigeeng First Nation, Spring Bay and the Highway 551 vicinity on Manitoulin Island. The alert asked residents to stay inside and lock their doors while police searched for a wanted man.
Berardi says the search for 32-year-old Victor Branco continued throughout the weekend following an alleged incident earlier that day.
Berardi did not provide any details but says Branco has yet to be apprehended.
He did say the suspect attempted to flee in a vehicle, which has been impounded by police.
Berardi adds the alert was lifted in the community around 10 am Saturday evening.
Berardi emphasizes if anyone sees Branco, not to approach him, but to call their nearest police agency.
