Manitoulin OPP responds to covid violation calls

The Manitoulin OPP has charged several people for covid violations.

OPP Constable Tessa Kasch says officers charged six individuals with failing to comply with covid-related orders.

She says officers went to one gathering in Mongowin Township on April 17th and issued warnings.

A few days later, she says the police investigated another gathering at a different residence to find the same individuals in attendance.

As a result, the six are facing the charge of failing to comply with orders under the Reopening Ontario Act.

She adds the OPP will continue to enforce the ROA and Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act and encourage the public to follow the direction of their local Public Health Units.
