The Rainbow District School Board’s Director of Education Norm Blaseg says he will retire in August following 35 years of service in public education.
Blaseg told the board it has been a privilege to lead the largest school board in Northern Ontario and he is proud of what they have accomplished together for schools in Sudbury, Espanola and Manitoulin Island.
Blaseg joined the board in 1990 as a teacher and eventually acquiring principalships.
He was appointed Superintendent of Schools in 2004 and Director of Education in July 2010.
The board will now begin the process of filling the position soon to ensure a smooth transition into the new school year.
