Elliot Lake council to consider upgrading billboards

Elliot Lake’s Economic Development Standing Committee will be asking council for $14,000 to upgrade the city’s promotional billboards.

Special Projects Manager Steve Antunes told the committee the city owns or rents 13 billboards between Sudbury and Sault Ste. Marie, but many of them display outdated art and do not promote a unified marketing message.

Antunes says city staff has put together a three-year marketing plan proposal to update the existing billboards and introduce a new “Elliot Lake – Your Summer/Winter Playground” marketing focus highlighting seasonal activities such as hiking and skiing.

Council will discuss the marketing plan at next Monday night’s meeting.
