Autumn Peltier of Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory has been named to the national Clean50 list, which recognizes “outstanding contributions to clean capitalism.”
The initiative was created in 2011 by the Delta Management Group, a staffing firm with a focus on ‘green’ initiatives such as cleantech, renewable energy and sustainability.
Sixteen-year-old Peltier was named Chief Water Commissioner of the Anishinabek Nation in 2019 and advocates for education and the importance of water to all Canadians and the wider globe.
Recognized by the United Nation, she is a Water Warrior who works towards protecting water sources, especially for First Nations across Canada.
She began her advocacy under the guidance of her great aunt, Josephine Mandamin who annually walked around the Great Lakes to raise awareness about water, its pollution and its importance in every person’s life.
