The Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce says the province’s latest stay-at-home order will hurt local businesses.
Chamber board chair, Cora Demarco says the province has been sending mixed messages and that can only hurt local businesses at a massive cost and is disheartening.
Demarco says the chamber would like to see a focus on the reopening of Ontario’s economy, one that includes safety protocols, rapid testing, contact-tracing, and vaccinations.
Demarco adds she would also like to see more grants for businesses to help them survive this latest wave of COVID-19.
She suggests the grant needs to be doubled up with automatic top-ups for businesses who have applied and were approved last time and extended once again to allow businesses to continue to operate under the present tight constraints.
