Sudbury police looking into anti-pandemic rally

Sudbury and Manitoulin districts are in a grey lockdown, but despite the rules, an organized group held a rally in Greater Sudbury last weekend.

Greater Sudbury Police Constable Kaitlyn Dunn says the rally had around 50 individuals take part and was organized by a group calling itself Mothers Against Distancing Sudbury.

She says police were on scene taking photos and video, gathering evidence for possible charges under the Reopening Ontario Act and charges may be laid.

Dunn adds the police continue to work with the city and public health to enforce COVID-19 provincial and federal orders.

The MADSudbury private Facebook group has some 500 members advocating freedom of choice in wearing masks, opening businesses and other pandemic restrictions.
