More students receiving virtual learning equipment

Following its board meeting, the Algoma District School Board has announced plans to increase technology for grades 6-10.

The board says it will invest in over 3,000 additional Winbooks for students to achieve what they call a one-on-one allocation for grades 6-10 in all schools across the Algoma District.

The board will also increase the allocations for other grades, allowing for a two-to-one ratio for grades 4-5 and 11-12.

The younger grades from JK to Grade three have access to iPads.

The board is also in the process of upgrading internet bandwidth at all schools and offices throughout the district, as well as upgrades including document cameras and sound systems to improve the remote virtual learning process.
