Cameco acknowledged for donation

Elliot Lake St. Joseph’s General Hospital Foundation fundraising chairman William Elliott met with representatives from Cameco uranium refinery, including newly appointed General Manager Terry Davis, to recognize the company for its $90,000 donation to the hospital’s $1.8 million CT scanner project.

It was the first meeting for Elliott and Davis providing an opportunity to view the donor plaque in the hospital’s main lobby, which features all the donors of the project.

Davis says employees raised $30,000 while the company put in $60,000.

He adds the company is proud to be a part of the local community, and the company and employees were happy to support the CT scanner project.

The CT scanner is the only one between Sault Ste. Marie and Sudbury saving local area residents the expense and time of having to travel for treatment elsewhere.
