Massey Agricultural Society hosts AGM – new constitution, new slate of directors

The Massey Agricultural Society held its annual general meeting earlier this week with an important change to their constitution for next year.

Re-elected president Brian Channon says the board passed a motion for a new constitution that, among other things, allows for two-year rather than one-year terms for the directors with half the board elected every year.

He says another piece of good news is that the society is in the black after many years of deficit, which puts them in a good position moving forward and commending everyone for their hard work.

As for bringing back the fair, Channon says they will have the annual fair this year, but COVID-19 rules will dictate how it is organized.

He says the discussions will be ongoing, but they are looking at making the fair a more interactive event where admission at the gate will get people into all sorts of activities, such as log sawing, tree climbing, log rolling in a mud pit and more.
