Ontario reports just under 1,700 new COVID-19 cases

Ontario is reporting just under 1,700 new COVID-19 cases.

The province added 1,699 cases on Monday with sixty-three per cent in the hot spots around the GTHA.

Another three people have died, the lowest number of deaths in a single day since October, with the death toll now at 7,244.

Over 308,000 more people have recovered with the recovery rate at 93 per cent.

Test positivity, the percentage of tests coming back positive, is at 5.4 per cent, the highest it has been since January.

Over 31,000 tests were completed over the last 24 hours and over 31,000 vaccines were given.

There are fifty-three new cases of the B.1.17 variant bringing the total to 1,340, one new B.1.351 variant case with that total now at 48 and P.1 variant cases remained unchanged with a total of 36.
