Espanola council has supported a motion to create a hiring committee to fill two vital positions on town staff.
CAO/Treasurer Cynthia Townsend is leaving her position as of this Friday and the clerk resigned earlier this year, so council has both positions to fill.
To that end, council has passed a motion to form a hiring committee made up of Mayor Jill Beer, Deputy Mayor Bill Foster, two members of staff and Aurel Malo of the consulting firm, Gallagher Group.
Council also agreed all their members would review the top three candidates before a final decision is made.
Staff will temporarily assist with the work that will need to be done in the absence of both.
The search is underway.
