A look at local COVID-19 numbers
Public Health Sudbury & Districts is reporting six new cases of COVID-19.
Five cases are in Greater Sudbury with one in the Sudbury district.
All six are close contact of a confirmed case and are self-isolating.
There are 28 active cases with 27 in the city and one in the Sudbury district.
Health Sciences North has 13 admitted patients.
Five are positive cases with one individual in intensive care.
The other eight are awaiting test results with two individuals in intensive care.
And, Algoma Public Health has had no new cases in the last 24 hours.
Considering resolved cases, there are only three active cases in the district with two people in hospital.
More money for more PSWs …
The provincial government is allotting 115-million dollars to provide free tuition to as many as six-thousand people who take an approved Personal Support Worker course in the province.
The program will see the students paid for their work placements and will see them graduate in six months, rather than eight.
Another 22-hundred students already enrolled in a P-S-W program will be eligible for a grant of up to two-thousand dollars to allow them to complete their studies.
Premier Ford says this will provide historic improvements in the quality of life and care for Ontario’s seniors.
The delivery of vaccines
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says Moderna will be able to fulfill its contractual obligations, and ship two-million doses of its COVID-19 vaccine to Canada by the end of March.
The company had been slowing shipments to Canada as it moved to expand production.
Pfizer has already started to increase shipments again and is on target to reach its goal of four-million doses before April first.
