France GĂ©linas, MPP for Nickel Belt and Ontario NDP Health Critic rose in the legislature to introduce petitions and talk about the need to improve working conditions for Personal Support Workers.
Gelinas says she launched a petition, “Make PSW a Career” yesterday recognizing the current shortage of PSWs is related to poor working conditions and wages in Home- and- Long-Term Care.
She adds for far too long, private corporations have made huge profits by underpaying PSWs and the work they do should be recognized as a career with appropriate wages, sick days, benefits, and a pension plan.
Gelinas is looking for support for the petition.
