A well-known paramedic on Manitoulin Island has been diagnosed with colon cancer and people across Manitoulin are drawing together to assist him and his family as best they can.
Paul Zilio’s sister Jennifer says her brother has been a resident and paramedic in Gore Bay for many years and he and his family can use the support while he is off work fighting the disease.
She says cancer has spread and he has been admitted for treatment in Sudbury with many tests and radiation treatment to follow.
Married with four children, the family needs some funding support to supplement government programs and other supports.
A Go Fund Me has been set up with a goal of $20,000.
