Mayors and councils across Northern Ontario are sending condolences to the community of Schreiber following the death of Mayor Dave Hamilton.
OPP say Hamilton died in a motor vehicle collision on Highway 17.
He served as mayor for the past two years, and as a councillor for six years before that, in the township east of Thunder Bay.
Hamilton had attended a Thunder Bay District Municipal League meeting in Marathon with a small number of colleagues earlier in the day.
Funeral services are being held under COVID-19 protocols.
He was 69.
