OPP seeking missing man, public’s assistance sought

UPDATE – 6:16 PM: Man still missing – police seeking public assistance

Espanola OPP are still looking for 25-year-old Braiden Eshkakogen who left the Espanola Regional Hospital around 10:00 am this morning in nothing but a hospital gown.

OPP Constable Shona Camirand says the local schools were put on lockdown and road checks were put in place to find the young man who has a past of unpredictable behaviour.

The OPP canine unit, regular officers and the OPP helicopter carried out a search throughout the day, but failed to find him.

He is described as 182 cm, 77 kg, shaved head, brown eyes, tattoos on arms.

The public is asked to call 1-888-310-1122 with any information.

As for the earlier statement that the situation had been resolved, this was in regards to the hold and secure being lifted by the local schools at the end of the school day.

 

UPDATE – 1:15 pm, Feb 11

Jim Fitzpatrick, media relations officer with the Huron-Superior District School Board confirms the situation has been resolved and the hold and secure has been lifted.

Espanola schools are in a hold and secure. 

OPP constable Shona Camirand says that’s due to a patient leaving Espanola Hospital in just a gown. 

She says the 25-year-old, Indigenous man has a past of unpredictable behaviour and anyone who sees the man is asked to call 911. 

Helicopter and canine units are assisting in the search.
