With the arrival of COVID-19 in Elliot Lake, the decision has been made to close outdoor spaces for the time being.
On Monday evening, city council voted to close the Miner’s Memorial and Sheriff Creek parking lots as well as the Kiwanis and Parsons Park outdoor skating rinks.
All the city indoor recreation facilities were already closed when the province implemented the lockdown.
The province has extended the current lockdown another eight days to next Tuesday.
Council will re-evaluate the situation at its next meeting on February 22nd.
