Sudbury council told region could become a yellow zone

Public Health Sudbury & Districts Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Penny Sutcliffe told Sudbury city council Tuesday as health unit contact tracers investigate each case of COVID-19, they are seeing roughly 12 other people affected, according to the latest numbers.

She says the agency has had 186 COVID-19 cases since March, with all but four cases in the City of Greater Sudbury adding almost a third of all cases occurred in the last week alone.

She says under the province’s new response framework, that means the region should be moving into a yellow zone response mode, although it is still in the green.

However, the province could change that she adds, but did not say whether it would be put in effect for just the Sudbury city region or the entire district.
