New CEO named for St. Joseph’s General Hospital in Elliot Lake

The board of St. Joseph’s General Hospital Elliot Lake has named a new CEO to oversee operations at the facility.

Hospital board chair Elaine Johnston says the members voted unanimously to the hiring of Jeremy Stevenson as the CEO starting January 4th, 2021.

She says Stevenson has a master’s in health administration and is a recipient of the Canadian College of Health Leaders Award and the Ontario Hospital Association’s Small Rural and Northern Health Care Award of Excellence.

She adds the Board is grateful for outgoing CEO Pierre Ozolins for his contributions over the years, especially the acquisition of the CT Scanner, and they all wish him the best in his retirement.

Ozolins will officially retire at the end of the year.

Jeremy Stevenson assumed the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the North East Local Integration Network
(NE LHIN) in January 2018. Overseeing and managing $1.5 Billion in health care services across 44% of Ontario’s landmass, which includes 25 hospitals, and delivering Home Care services to 17,000 patients daily. Since the provincial
reorganization of the LHINs, Mr. Stevenson is currently serving as CEO of the Services de Santé de Chapleau Health
Services.
Prior to these appointments, Jeremy was the President & CEO of the Hôpital de Mattawa Hospital & Administrator of
the Algonquin Nursing Home.
He has held numerous positions in the Ontario Health sector, including Chief Operating Officer of the St-Francis
Memorial Hospital (SFMH) and Community Health Center in Barry’s Bay, as well as being part of the Senior Leadership
Team of the Renfrew Victoria Hospital (RVH). Prior to that, he was in Ottawa at the Champlain Local Health Integration
Network and the Hôpital Montfort.
In 2016, he was awarded the Canadian College of Health Leaders (CCHL) National Award, and in 2012, the OHA Small,
Rural and Northern Healthcare Excellence Award in recognition of his innovative leadership in collaborating and
establishing partnerships to expand and improve health services.
He holds a Master of Health Administration, a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from the University of
Ottawa, as well as an Administrator Certificate in Long Term Care from the Ontario Association of Non-Profit Homes and
Services for Seniors.
He is a member of the Canadian College of Health Leaders (CCHL) & the American College of Health Executives (ACHE).
Jeremy is fluently bilingual. He is the proud father of four children and stays involved in community life – volunteering,
coaching sports leagues, and remaining involved with the provincial leadership committees.
