Looking for Public Health Champions

Challenges have been faced by many individuals, businesses, and communities across the Algoma District this year, so Algoma Public Health is expanding its Public Health Champion Awards

Dr. Marlene Spruyt, the medical officer of health, says this year will honour Algoma residents who have demonstrated kindness, compassion and community spirit while helping others overcome the challenges presented by COVID-19.

She adds the agency has expanded the awards to include four categories: Amplifier Champion, Re-Open Safely Champions, Mental Health & Wellness Champion and Health Protection Champion.

Dr. Spruyt says the deadline for nominations is November 20th and to be eligible for nomination, an individual or organization must reside in the Algoma District.
