VISTA Radio donated to Espanola school music program

Sacred Heart School in Espanola will be able to purchase new musical instruments, thanks to a donation from Moose99.3FM CJJM – Espanola and its parent company, VISTA Radio.

As part of VISTA’s mandate, the Canadian Content Development Contributions and Eligible Initiatives

allow the company to make contributions to the development of Canadian musical talent.

School music teacher Jodi Bourcier says running a quality music education program comes with considerable costs to purchase and maintain instruments, adding the donation ensures the school can offer instrumental music to Grade 7 and 8 students.

VISTA Radio has certain obligations under the licensing agreement with the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission to support local community initiatives.

Moose morning host and regional reporter, Rosalind Russell say music is what makes The Moose what it is and we know our listeners love the classics, as well as the variety of new music we provide to them on a daily basis. That is a big part of being the morning host, talking to fans and sharing the music.
This funding is a wonderful way to support the discovery and exploration of music in the children of our community, adds Russell. I have long admired Jodi Bourcier and her hard work with the students in the music programs at Sacred Heart. You can tell she and the kids absolutely love making music.

The presentation was made to the school yesterday.
