Dog Park possible for Espanola

Espanola council is exploring the idea of an off-leash dog park for the town.

The idea originated from an inquiry by the public and staff had already carried out a preliminary study.

Deputy Mayor Bob Foster says there are three possible locations in Espanola, one of them within a park, the other two in residential areas.

Foster suggested there be two-fenced in areas, one for small dogs, the other for larger pets.

All members of council believe it is a great idea, but also want to know all the costs involved including ongoing maintenance.

Following the discussion, council agreed to have staff investigate the matter further including the locations and the cost of fencing for all three with a report back to council expected in mid-October.
