Fraser Institute ranks Algoma high schools

The education director of the Algoma school board is downplaying results of where its high schools rank with other schools in the province.  Each year the Fraser Institute ranks Ontario’s 749 high schools.  For the Algoma board, the highest ranking was Michipicoten in Wawa which placed 163rd.  Elliot Lake Secondary was next at 344th while by W.C. Eaket in Blind River was fourth at 489.  The worst showing for the board was its high school in Hornepayne which finished near the bottom of the rankings at 740.  The board’s education director says the Fraser report doesn’t capture a school’s true performance because it doesn’t look at the big picture.  Meanwhile the high schools for the Huron-Superior board finished in the mid 500-range
