Clean up or face fines in Elliot Lake

Illegally dumping garbage has already cost some Elliot Lake residents some money after surveillance caught them in the act.
City CAO Daniel Gagnon says the Public Works and Bylaw departments have partnered to carry out surveillance at various sites to make sure garbage and other household waste is disposed of properly.
He says cameras are at various sites and there is also signage that warns people they could be on camera.
As a result, Gagnon adds several residents have been sent notices and fined.
Gagnon says cleaning up illegally dumped waste costs taxpayers money and also has a negative impact on the environment.
He adds residents should also be properly disposing of masks, many of which have been seen strewn on city streets and in local parks.
