Beautification grant pays for new banners

There is plenty of colour and talent to attract the eye when driving through Elliot Lake’s downtown following a successful banner contest featuring local artists.

Young and old alike were invited to take part in the contest with Mayor Dan Marchisella formally cutting the ribbon and unveiling them to the public.

The 40 or so banners were selected by the judging panel made up of well-known artists Barb Hukezalie, Julie Merk and Linda Finn.

The mayor thanked everyone for their spirited response in the wake of the pandemic.

The city received a beautification grant, which was used to fund the costs of the banners and floral posts.
