Elliot Lake council has awarded a bid to an architectural company to carry out a feasibility study to
replace the Lester B. Pearson Centre.
Last night, city CAO Daniel Gagnon told council the city received two bids to carry out the study for a new
arts and culture hub facility to replace the former centre, which suffered a catastrophic roof collapse in
February 2019.
Gagnon explained to the council that up to 85% of the costs of the study is being covered by both the
provincial and federal governments.
Council awarded the bid to Brook McIlroy Incorporated totaling $89,540.
Council decided to accept the higher bid based on the experience of the firm.
The work is expected to get underway this September with a presentation to the council by December.
