Elliot Lake Fire Department gets approvals for breathing apparatus

The Elliot Lake Fire Department will be modernizing an important piece of equipment following the
approval of the council.
Fire Chief John Thomas says the fire department has self-contained breathing apparatus units that have
outlived their usefulness.
He says they were purchased back in 2004, but are no longer viable while the new ones will last for
at least 25 years.
Elliot Lake council approved the purchase of 20 units at a cost of $221,642 at its meeting last night.
