New confirmed case of COVID-19 prompts outbreak declaration

An employee testing positive for COVID-19 has led to Public Health Sudbury & Districts declaring an
outbreak declaration at Extendicare Falconbridge in Sudbury.
According to the release, the individual was tested as part of routine surveillance testing of long-term
care home staff across the province and in these circumstances, the assessment of case #71 led to an
outbreak declaration.
Case #69, which was previously reported, was also an employee at this long-term care home.
The health unit also confirmed on Saturday Case #70 is a person 19 years of age and under in the city.
They are all in self-isolation and the health agency continues to monitor the situation with updated testing being carried out as part of the provincial mandate.
