Elliot Lake council assessing financial support for asset upgrades

Elliot Lake City Council will take a look at funding an update of one of the city’s programs.

Director of Public Works Daryl Halloch has put a request in place for tonight’s virtual council meeting for new funding to update the Municipal Asset Management Program.

Halloch says the plan has changed over the last seven years and around $12,000 is needed to bring it up to date and meet new regulations, as well as implementing the Environmental Policy and Communication Strategy.

He states the city can apply for additional funding of $50,000 through the Federation of Canadian Municipalities to update and train new staff.

Council will discuss the proposal at its live-streamed meeting this evening at 7:00 pm.
