Elliot Lake and Blind River issue fire bans

Espanola Fire Chief Mike Pichor says he is not putting a fire ban in place in the area because of the heavy
rains that moved through the area on the weekend, but that is not the case in Elliot Lake and Blind River.
Both Elliot Lake Fire Chief John Thomas and Blind River Fire Chief Ken Raymond imposed fire bans in
their respective jurisdictions yesterday morning.
The fire ban means all permits are cancelled and no burning or open flames are allowed says Chief
Thomas.
Chief Raymond concurs adding no campfires, fire pits, outdoor fireplaces or incinerator burning is
allowed.
The Municipality of Huron Shores put a fire ban in place last Friday following the same guidelines.
Since fire bans are a municipal responsibility, listeners are encouraged to call their local municipality or
First Nation band office to see if a fire ban is in effect in their local area.
