A manor in Thessalon is on lockdown following the 23rd positive case of COVID-19 in the Algoma District.
In a release, Algoma Public Health states Algoma Manor in Thessalon has confirmed one of its staff members has tested positive for the virus and is now self-isolating.
The nursing home adds all other test results so far have been negative and some are still pending.
The manor is working closely with Algoma Public Health and based on careful investigation of all available information, the risk of exposure is low and limited to a non-resident area.
However, they are following protocols and are putting “suspect outbreak” measures in place until the remainder of recent test results are reported.
All residents continue to be monitored for symptoms every day and any symptomatic resident is immediately tested.
All staff also continue to wear masks at all times.
