Elliot Lake library repairs for roof leaks

The Elliot Lake Public Library was not closed because of COVID-19 in January, but rather because of leaks in the roof.
City CAO Daniel Gagnon says the landlord of the Pearson Plaza is facing costly roof repairs that must be completed before the library can resume operations.
He adds even if Premier Ford announced there could be curbside pickup for the library, 99 percent of the books are in a space they don’t have access to because they’re still in the construction zone where the roof is leaking and has not been repaired yet.
The building owner and landlord, McCowan and Associates of Barrie closed the library on January 16th for repairs, but due to COVID-19 and the cessation of construction, the city is still waiting for access.
Gagnon adds they have no timeline for the repairs, but hopes the landlord will begin the work soon.
