Boil water advisory in Elliot Lake

Algoma Public Health has issued a boil water advisory for a section of Elliot Lake.
A release from the city indicates the health unit has been notified and the boil water advisory was put into place on Tuesday following a break in the main water line the area of Oakland Boulevard.
Whenever any kind of work has to be done on the water supply system, there is a risk of soil or
contaminants entering the system.
Although the risk is low, the advisory has been issued to all residents, businesses and public facilities in the vicinity.
The health unit advises everyone to boil water for any activity where it could be ingested until the repairs are completed.
Repairs to the line are underway

WEBSITE: Water should be boiled if used for
· Drinking
· Brushing teeth
· Washing fruits and vegetables
· Drinking water from public drinking fountains in this area.
Please follow these instructions:
· Bring water to a rolling boil
· Continue to boil for at least 1 minute
· Let water cool before using

· This Boil Water Advisory will remain in effect until work on the system is complete and
microbiological samples confirm the safety of the water. This is a localized problem and only
households and businesses in the affected area will receive this notice.
WHAT TO DO WHEN THE WATER RETURNS
If any discoloration in the water, we advise that you open each cold tap, one at a time, and let them run
for about 20 seconds each. If the water is cloudy or contains grit, continue to run the cold water taps
until the water runs clear.
