Youth charged in music festival sexual assault investigation

Manitoulin OPP has arrested a 17-year-old male in connection with an alleged sexual assault at a summer festival on Manitoulin Island last year.
OPP Constable Marie Ford says the youth from Whitefish River First Nation was first arrested on April 8 in connection to the incident.
She says on August 11th of last year police and medical services responded to a report of a female with injuries at the Country Fest Fairgrounds in Little Current.
She says on April 8th the youth was arrested and charged.
Following the investigation, Ford says on Wednesday, the youth was charged with two counts of sexual assault and one count of assault.
She says his identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
He was released and is to appear in Gore Bay Court at a later date.
