Cemetery guidelines for Mother’s Day weekend in Elliot Lake

The City of Elliot Lake realizes there will be many people who will want to honour their loved ones during the Mother’s Day weekend, so they want to assure the public they can visit Woodlands Cemetery, but be mindful of COVID-19 protocols.
City CAO Daniel Gagnon says COVID-19 protocols including physical distancing rules remain in place and visitors to the cemetery should be patient.
He says bylaw enforcement staff will be on hand throughout the weekend and the city will be closely monitoring the traffic at the cemetery.
Gagnon adds if too many residents gather at the same time, there may be a need to limit the number of vehicles and visitors at any one time.
He also reminds the public that the park along the shoreline of Horne Lake is closed under provincial order, which can be enforced by police or city bylaw officers.
