Duo charged with weapons/drug offences

East Algoma OPP apprehended a wanted man near Bruce Mines leading to several weapons and drug charges. OPP Constable Bev Gauthier says the police spotted the wanted man while out on patrol on Wednesday and pulled the car over. She says a woman was also in the vehicle.

After a search of the car, Gauthier says they seized what is suspected to be fentanyl and crystal meth, drug paraphernalia, about $6,000 in cash and a firearm. She says a 45-year-old man from Sault Ste. Marie is facing several charges including possession of drugs for trafficking, possession of a dangerous weapon, possession of break-in tools and possession of

property obtained by crime, among others. Gauthier says he appeared in Blind River Bail Court yesterday, but was held in custody. She adds the 22-year-old woman, also from Sault Ste. Marie, is facing several charges, possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of break-in tools, possession of property obtained by crime and others. The woman was granted bail and is to appear in Blind River Court on August 5th.
