A big part of Wiikwemikoong Tourism is to develop Manitoulin Island into a four-season destination and a popular fishing personality Bob Izumi will be part of one of the biggest fishing derbies in the region.
Wiikwemikoong Tourism Manager Luke Wassegijig says Izumi will host and film the second annual Manitoulin Ice Showdown this weekend.
He says not only does it help to raise the profile of the event, but will also be an important means of showcasing four-season angling on the Manitoulin.
He says Izumi will be filming the derby for the Bob Izumi’s Real Fishing Show as well as Fuel the Fire TV, which will be broadcast later this year.
Wassegijig adds the derby will have over $50,000 in cash and prizes as well as provide fishers with a chance to meet and try to out-fish Izumi.
