Blind River students stand out in Nordic skiing

Several Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon athletes excelled last week in Nordic skiing during the Northern Ontario Secondary School championship held in North Bay.

Three students qualified for OFSAA being held this week in Collingwood.

Three other students have also been selected to compete in the biathlon at the upcoming Ontario Winter Games taking place in Orillia from February 27th to March 1st.

Students who qualified for Orillia are Sophie Azzi, grade 10 student at École secondaire catholique Jeunesse-Nord (Blind River) won 2nd place; Rochelle Larivière, grade 10 student at ÉS du Sacré-Coeur (Sudbury), won a bronze medal; and Grace Raddon, grade 10  student at ÉSC Jeunesse-Nord (Blind River) finished 4th. Their performances qualify them for the provincial secondary school (OFSAA) championship in Collingwood next week.

Sophie Azzi, a student at ÉSC Jeunesse-Nord (Blind River), as well as Tiana Chalifoux, Meghan Raddon and Annie Azzi, all from École Saint-Joseph (Blind River) have all been selected to compete in the biathlon competition, which combines cross-country skiing and rifle shooting, at the upcoming Ontario Winter Games to take place in Orillia from February 27 to March 1.
