One-day teacher union strikes continue

The Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario is ramping up the one-day strikes in the Sudbury, Manitoulin and Algoma districts.

AB Ellis in Espanola and S. Geiger in Massey classes are canceled today, as are all the Rainbow elementary schools on Manitoulin Island and in Sudbury.

Next week, there will back-to-back walkouts by federation members on Tuesday and Wednesday affecting schools within the Algoma District School Board.

The strikes also affect all adult and literacy programs, Superior Heights Community programming and Rockhaven School.

The federation and provincial government met last week for three days of renewed contract talks but those negotiations broke off late Friday.

While the government says it is all about money, all four unions say it is about e-learning access and class sizes.
