Temporary Closure – Public Library at Pearson Plaza
The Elliot Lake Public Library is closed for the time being as is some adjacent spaces in the Pearson Plaza due to leaks in the roof. The city is waiting for an action plan from the owner/landlord. In the meantime, the library remains closed but the Chief Librarian is located within City Hall with access to library software. Library patrons should take note of the following: all late fines will be waived as a result of the closure; Books can be returned using the dropbox that remains at the entrance to the Pearson
Plaza or kept until the library re-opens and the Chief Librarian can be reached at 705.848.2287 ext. 2116 for book renewals or questions. Photo provided by Sue Grieves
The City of Elliot Lake has closed the library and common area at the Pearson Plaza complex because the roof is leaking.
City CAO Daniel Gagnon says the landlord, McCowan, and Associates, h been issued an order to rectify the situation as quickly as possible.
He adds notice was given to the Elliot Lake Public Library late last week that it should vacate the leased premises in order for the landlord to carry out the repairs.
Gagnon says all late fees will be waived for the time being and books can be returned using the dropbox.
The Chief Librarian can be contacted for book renewals or similar service questions.
