One-day rotating strikes today and tomorrow

Various teacher’s unions are beginning a round of rotating one-day strikes.

Students of the Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board will not be at school today.
Director of Education, Rose Burton Spohn says the decision was made in response to the one-day province-wide strike action initiated by the Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association.

And tomorrow, all elementary schools will be closed within the Rainbow District School Board.

Communication spokesperson, Nicole Charette adds all secondary schools will remain open.

She says the closure is due to members of the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario striking tomorrow to protest the lack of talks with the provincial government.

This is the first time in over 20 years that all four education unions have moved into a legal strike position.
