Rivermen fans not happy with council

One of the Espanola residents who started a Facebook page to save the Rivermen junior hockey team says people are upset with town council.

Last week most of council voted to kill its contract with the Rivermen saying it’s in the best interest of the community and stakeholders.

But Mike Buzdygan says the fans are trying to figure out council’s rationale.

The Rivermen contract had two years to go before it was up for renewal.

Buzdygan says there’s no date set yet, but there’s a plan to hold a rally at the town hall or recreation complex over the cancelled contract.
