Anishinabek Nation leaders prepare for self-government

Chiefs, councils and band members will be meeting to work towards the establishment of the Anishinabek Nation government.

They are meeting over the next three days in Sault Ste. Marie as part of the Anishinabek Nation Governance Summit.

The theme is Restoring our Rightful Jurisdiction and the conference will focus on the Anishinabek Nation Governance Agreement Transition Plan.

The plans are being finalized as First Nation citizens prepare to vote on the agreement with Canada.

The Anishinabek Nation is the political advocate for some 65,000 citizens and members of 40 First Nations in Ontario.
