The Elliot Lake Wildcats has had some financial difficulties over the last couple of years and with a new board and new coach, the organization is starting over from scratch.
As part of that, the team met with Elliot Lake council last night to ask for $20,000 to keep them going over the short term.
However, several councillors pointed out that even with new management, the team still owes some $50,000 in previous loans plus a debt for ice time.
In the end, council wrote off the $11,000 debt for ice time from 2018 to November and agreed to provide $10,000.
They also want to see a new business plan by the end of February along with a complete financial report and repayment plan in place.
