Northern Health Travel Grant passes second reading

It looks like all parties might support changes to the Northern Health Travel Grant.

Thunder Bay-Atikokan MPP and NDPer, Judith Monteith-Farrell introduced the bill just over a week ago and it received second reading on Thursday.

She says northern families and health care workers will be consulted as part of an advisory committee being set up for input on the grant aside from a petition that is already being distributed across the North.

She adds many Northerners find the grant difficult with some having to use credit cards to pay costs upfront and then having to wait a long time for reimbursement.

If the support continues, the bill could pass third reading in the near future.
