Construction of Elliot Lake CT Scanner expected in Spring

The CT Scanner for Elliot Lake should be in place in the Spring.

Elliot Lake Hospital Foundation Chair William Elliott and Hospital CEO Pierre Ozolins shared the good news with Elliot Lake council on Monday night.

Ozolins told the council the Request for Proposals for the type of scanner closes today and then the search for the right model will begin.

Ozolins says the Request for Proposals for the type of scanner closes today and the week of November 15th, teams will travel to southern Ontario and the United States to decide on a final model and configuration for the equipment.

Elliot, who is taking care of the financial side of the project, says $1.4 million dollars has been raised locally with the estimated cost for the new scanner and a generator to support it being around $1.6 million dollars, so there is a shortfall of some $200,000.

He adds it is now time for the public to come forward if they wish to support the project.

Tax receipts will be issued to all donors who make contributions to the Elliot Lake St. Joseph’s General Hospital Foundation, which is a registered charitable organization.
