An engineering firm hired to assess Blind River municipal buildings

Blind River council has given theĀ go-ahead to hire an engineering company to carry out an assessment of all municipally owned buildings in town.

Blind River CAO Kathryn Scott approached council on Monday to ask for a master plan to be put in place for dealing with the condition of municipally-owned buildings, especially in the wake of the harsh winter last year.

She says many buildings had to be shut down due to the heavy ice and snow on roofs and with the Asset Management Plan finally finished, itā€™s time to put it in motion.

Scott recommended the council hire Tulloch Engineering to undertake the assessment with a tender of $115,480.
The money will come out of a $630,600 modernization grant from the province.

Council unanimously agreed and the work will begin in the short term.
